Okaloosa Citizens,
Its time for the General Election for the Office of Sheriff. I've been a die-hard Republican since 1983, however for this race I'm registered as a Non-partisan candidate. There were 10 Republican candidates in the Primary so I elected to go Non-partisan. I knew the voters would split their votes among the candidates and elect an individual that won't be a positive and respected leader required for this prestigious position.
I am honored to have this opportunity to serve you, our community, and the great State of Florida as the next Sheriff of Okaloosa County. I'm a 23-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force that has earned numerous decorations and have served in multiple combat zones. I achieved the rank of Senior Master Sergeant during my career. I've served our beloved country in foreign and domestic locations since the age of 17. Following my Air Force career, I had the privilege of serving Okaloosa County as a Deputy Sheriff for 3-years. The former Sheriff's policy required that I resign to qualify as a candidate for Office of the Sheriff. In the interim, I was selected for a position on Eglin AFB in the Antiterrorism Office. Unfortunately, the Hatch Act required my resignation to continue my campaign run in 2008. Since June 2009, I was an active member of Florida Highway Patrol serving Okaloosa and Walton Counties. Again, due to policy, I had to resign to seek the Office of Sheriff as I was still in probationary status.
During 2008 Primary, I briefed all I came in contact about the almost $2,000,000 that was unaccounted for within the Sheriff's Office budget. The former Sheriff or his staff (including Larry Ashley) never contested my comments, publicly, as it was the truth. The February 2009 incident that led to the arrest of the Former Sheriff and some of his staff members illustrated my findings. I showed and stated the gross expenditures for vehicles that the former Sheriff had purchased in almost all the forums and on my website. I further listed the top 20 employee's position salary for the Sheriff Office on my website that illustrated tax-payers spent just under $2,000,000 on their salaries and vehicles.
During this race I will LEAD FROM THE FRONT and BE THE EXAMPLE of what you have come to expect in a Sheriff. I look forward to meeting and talking with you on my goals. I'm confident I'm the exact person the community needs as our Sheriff.
